I am a novice when it comes to taking pictures and video. I asked this a couple days ago, but didn't get much conversation...
What do you use? GoPro? Point and shoot?
I want to take still and videos; maybe make some timelapse stuff on road trips. Recommendations?

I normally use my Iphone. If I'm feeling ghetto I'll strap it around my chest with duct tape, and pretend it's a Go Pro.

So this looks like a big-body camera. You can't set that up for like a time lapse series when driving, can you?

gopros are great for time lapse stuff, even has burst and time laps photo modes, as well as full 60p hd video. Best part is that they won't run you much more than $400 to get started.
I use mine all the time with a thing called a camlapse. It's a glorified egg timer that slowly rotates the camera as the time lapse is being shot. Also, check out the GoPro DIY subreddit for some really cool mounts, poles, and mods to get the most out of your camera

I loved the Sony XA-10 I had access to for a year... now I just use a gopro or my phone. My DSLR kinda sucks at audio so I don't use that too much.

I use an ipotato for everything because it's always with me. You can do things with the camera like focus and exposure lock, so you can actually take pretty good pictures with it. You can get a windshield suction cup mount for 'dashcam' use until you figure out what you really want to do. Gopro is a very versatile camera with a lot of uses.
